The programme of activities and the atmosphere of our Nursery aims to encourage confidence, independence and enjoyment. Our work has, at its core, the aim of enabling children to develop their emotional, social, cognitive, interpersonal and physical skills and their desire to explore, discover and be creative.

Grunty’s provides a well planned and organised play environment that offers children rich and stimulating experiences, alongside opportunities to explore, experiment, plan and make decisions for themselves. The programme of activities will recognise and take into account the differing ages, interests, backgrounds and abilities of each child, as activities are planned around children’s interests.

The activities provided are planned to allow the children to build on their natural curiosity, advance their thinking, use their imagination and develop positive social relationships.

Learning through play is an important part in children’s development. Children learn through play as it comes naturally to them. Play helps the child to develop their confidence, self esteem and sense of security, and also encourages the use of creativity and imagination.

Our baby Room is called Buttercup babies – 3 months to 12 months old

This is a brand new purpose built unit for children aged 3 months to one year. This area is equipped with soft furnishings where babies can crawl and wriggle around in a safe environment which helps them to develop both physically and mentally. All resources are stored at low level which gives easy access for babies and encourages them to explore at there own pace. Activities provided for babies are tactile and encourage exploration, including mirror work, exploring texture and sound and natural objects.

Our Daisy Room - Caters for children aged 1-2 years

A variety of activities are offered such as painting and sticking, sensory play, water and sand, along with singing and dancing. Children are encouraged to explore their environment which has been create to stimulate young minds.

Both baby room and Toddler room have there own secured garden area where children can explore their environment and the natural living world.

At Grunty’s Day Care we understand that children have a natural curiosity about their world, and everything they do has the potential to be a learning experience. Learning through play ensures that each individual child’s needs are met. Our activity programme encourages babies and toddlers to explore and socialise with adults and other children through singing, stories and tactile activities.
